BioSight uses a double-blind peer-review process in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other.
Each submission is screened by the editorial office for relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, completeness, originality, ethical compliance, and basic scholarly quality. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be declined before external review.
Manuscripts that pass initial screening are normally evaluated by two to three independent expert reviewers. Reviewers are selected for subject expertise and must disclose any conflict of interest. They assess the manuscript’s originality, methodological soundness, ethical compliance, clarity, significance, and validity of its conclusions.
Reviewer reports are advisory. Authors may be required to submit a point-by-point response and a revised manuscript. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers when further expert assessment is needed.
Possible decisions include acceptance, revision, resubmission for review, or rejection. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision on the basis of the reviewers’ reports, the authors’ responses, and the journal’s editorial standards. Editorial decisions are independent of commercial considerations, including payment of the article publication fee.
Editors and reviewers must treat manuscripts and associated data as confidential and must not use unpublished material for personal advantage. Anyone with a competing interest that could affect impartial assessment must decline the assignment or disclose the conflict to the Editor-in-Chief.
A submission authored by an editor or editorial-board member is handled independently. The author has no role in reviewer selection or the decision, and the same peer-review standards apply.
Authors may appeal an editorial decision by sending a reasoned request to biosight@uok.edu.pk. Appeals are considered by an editor who was not responsible for the original decision whenever practicable.
Article Types and Review Exceptions
Original research articles, review articles, and brief communications undergo the journal’s standard double-blind external peer-review process. Editorials written or commissioned by the journal may undergo editorial review instead of external peer review and will be clearly identified as editorials.
Special Issues
Articles submitted to a special issue, if any, follow the same initial screening, ethical requirements, and double-blind external peer-review process as regular submissions. The Editor-in-Chief retains responsibility for the entire journal, including special issues. Guest editors cannot make decisions on their own submissions, and manuscripts involving a guest editor or editorial-board member are handled independently by an editor without a conflict of interest.
