Complaints and Appeals Policy
BioSight is committed to fair, transparent, and accountable editorial practices. Authors, reviewers, readers, and other stakeholders may submit complaints or appeals concerning editorial decisions, peer-review procedures, publication ethics, staff conduct, published content, or any failure to follow the journal’s stated policies.
Editorial Appeals
Authors may appeal an editorial decision when they believe that a significant error occurred during the assessment of their manuscript. An appeal must clearly identify the manuscript, explain the grounds for reconsideration, and provide relevant evidence. Mere disagreement with reviewers’ comments or the editorial decision does not constitute sufficient grounds for an appeal.
Appeals should be submitted within 30 days of the editorial decision. The Editor-in-Chief will review the appeal, the original decision, reviewers’ reports, and any relevant correspondence. When appropriate, an independent editor or reviewer who was not involved in the original decision may be consulted. The decision reached after consideration of the appeal will be final.
Complaints
Complaints should include the complainant’s name and contact information, a clear description of the matter, relevant manuscript or article details, and supporting evidence. Complaints will be handled confidentially and fairly. BioSight will acknowledge receipt within seven working days and will normally provide a substantive response within 30 days. If additional time is required, the complainant will be informed.
Conflicts of Interest and Independent Review
A person who is the subject of a complaint, or who has a conflict of interest, will not investigate or decide the matter. The complaint will be referred to an appropriate independent editor or representative of the publisher.
Complaints Concerning the Editor-in-Chief
Complaints involving the Editor-in-Chief should be addressed to the publisher, the Department of Physiology, University of Karachi. Such matters will be reviewed independently by an authorized representative who was not involved in the disputed decision.
Ethical Complaints and Published Articles
Allegations involving plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, duplicate publication, authorship disputes, undisclosed conflicts of interest, research misconduct, or other ethical concerns will be investigated in accordance with the guidance and flowcharts of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Where justified, BioSight may publish a correction, expression of concern, retraction, or other appropriate notice.
How to Submit
Complaints and appeals should be sent by email to biosight@uok.edu.pk with the subject line “Complaint” or “Editorial Appeal,” as applicable. Relevant documentation should be included to facilitate a fair and timely assessment.
No individual will be disadvantaged for submitting a complaint or appeal in good faith.
